Manila, Philippines—Most of the 16 people who were injured at a multiple collision along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Friday morning, were students on their way to school, police said.

The 16 people, earlier reported as 14, were immediately rushed to the Jose B. Lingad (JBL) Hospital in San Fernando Pampanga, NLEX traffic control room Supervisor officer Ariel Salita said.

Six of the victims sustained hip, neck and head injuries, while one person was in the critical list for a head injury, said hospital emergency services officer Dr. Edwin Cunanan.

Four vehicles collided at San Simon exit along the NLEX at around 7 a.m. . The drivers of the 14-wheel dump truck, 6- wheel elf truck, a public utility jeepney and a Toyota Innova car, are now under being investigated at the San Simon police station.

Salita said initial reports showed that the crash may have been caused by poor visibility and slippery roads due to heavy rains from typhoon Falcon.
