MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The recent interception of a package containing some P1,055,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) at the Port of Clark led to the arrest on Monday of two claimants in Baliuag, Bulacan.

In a statement on Tuesday evening, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Luzon (PDEA 3) identified the arrested persons as Vincent Francis Estrella, 32, and Gilbert Gonzalez Guinit, 35, both residents of Baliuag town.

PDEA 3 said they collared the duo in a “controlled delivery” operation conducted jointly with the Clark Interdiction Task Group and Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark.

The suspects accepted the package declared to contain chocolates. It turned out that aside from chocolate bars and candies, the small box that arrived at Clark on May 10 from New York also contained 153 grams of shabu.

“The subject parcel emanated from New York, USA and was declared as chocolates,” PDEA 3 said.

The two men faced charges of importation of dangerous drugs in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
