FATHER NABBED FOR RAPING DAUGHTER

A MAN was arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter in their home  in Madridejos town, northern Cebu.

Police said the father did not resist  arrest when they took him into custody  Wednesday night.

Police said the girl was watching television with her eight siblings when her father called her to his room and sexually abused her.

The girl reported the abuse to her elder sibling who  sought police assistance.

Police said the medical  examination showed the girl’s private parts had cuts.

MAN KILLED BY COUSIN

A MENTALLY unstable man was shot dead by his cousin in barangay Paypal, Daanbantayan town, northern Cebu.

Mario Bituon Punay succumbed to gunshot wounds in the body and head.

The suspect, Jeffrey Mondejar, surrendered to the police after the incident.

Before the shooting, Punay was seen arguing with a  neighbor Joseph Cruz  Friday morning.

Mondejar arrived and tried to stop the argument but  Punay didn’t listen and became violent.

Some residents reported that  an armed Mondejar was seen chasing and shooting Punay, said SPO2 Herminio Marindoque of the Daanbantayan police.

A bloodied Punay was found slumped on the ground when police arrived.

Punay was brought to the town’s hospital where attending doctors declared him dead.

Mondejar was accompanied by relatives when he surrendered to the police in the afternoon./CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC

MAN DROWNS OFF BORBON

A 73-YEAR-OLD man drowned while fishing in the waters off barangay Poblacion, Borbon town, northern Cebu.

Anastasio Hortezuela  had a  drinking session before he and his friend Presillano Detsus went  fishing.

Detsus said while they were fishing, Hortezuela suddenly disappeared.

Destus said he shouted for help when he failed to find his friend.

Hortezuela’s body  was later found floating.

He was brought to the Sogod District Hospital where he was declared dead.
