LUCENA CITY — Another motorbiker was shot and killed Tuesday morning, May 16, by a motorcycle-riding gunman in this city.
Charles Moises Vidal, 33, an employee of San Miguel Corp. branch in this city, was traveling at 7 a.m. aboard his motorcycle on his way to work when shot in the head by the gunman on a scooter along the old Maharlika Highway in Barangay Isabang, the Quezon police said in a spot report.
The gunman fled after the shooting and left his target dead on the spot.
The police are conducting investigation to unmask the gunman and establish the motive behind the killing.
This latest shooting incident involving a motorcycle-riding gunman was the fourth in this city since last week.
On May 9, Michael Garcia was driving his tricycle with his two school-bound daughters as passengers in Barangay Mayao Castillo around 5:30 a.m.
Suddenly, a gunman fired at Garcia but also hit one of his daughters, Mara, 12. The gunman fled after the shooting aboard a motorcycle driven by his cohort and left Garcia dead on the spot.
Mara was taken to a hospital but also died.
The next day, motorcyclist Dennis Amat was shot dead in another ambush along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Isabang after he took a child to school.
The gunman fled aboard a black motorcycle also driven by a cohort and left his target dead on the spot.
On May 11, a still unidentified gunman shot construction worker Jordan Pilar in Barangay Ibabang Iyam.
Fredyrex Catubua who was eating dinner in the area was also hit by a stray bullet. The gunman fled aboard a motorcycle driven by another rider.
The two victims were taken to a local hospital and survived the shooting.
In an earlier interview, Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, said a special team of investigators was created to solve the spate of ambuscades by riding-in-tandem killers in this city.
A tracker team had also been formed to help identify the perpetrators in each case, Ledon added.
