UP Baguio’s student council offers help to fire victims
BAGUIO CITY — The University Student Council (USC) of the University of the Philippines Baguio has reached out to students displaced by a fire late Sunday, May 14, that gutted several homes and buildings in a neighborhood known for its numerous dormitories and apartments.
The blaze that struck Upper Cabinet Hill displaced 10 families and several students from various universities, authorities said.
But USC Councilor Angelika Joven said they have yet to receive information if some students were severely affected by the fire.
“The 12 who have already responded to us weren’t directly affected, they just lived near where the fire happened,” Joven said.
She added: “But we saw a post saying the homes of six students were burned down, so we are conducting an investigation now to determine who those students are.”
