Rainy Tuesday in parts of Luzon due to 2 weather systems — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines— Rainy and overcast skies can be expected in several parts of the country on Tuesday due to two weather systems: southwesterly surface wind flow persisting west of northern and central Luzon, and a frontal system in the extreme northern Luzon area, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Dahil sa dalawang weather systems na ito, makakaranas tayo ng kaulapan at pagulan sa ilang bahagi ng ating bansa— sa ilang bahagi ng Northern Luzon pati na rin sa kanlurang bahagi ng mainland Luzon,” said weather specialist Daniel James Villamil in a Tuesday forecast.

(Because of these two weather systems, we will experience cloudy skies and rain in several parts of the country— in parts of Northern Luzon and western parts of mainland Luzon.)

Batanes and Babuyan Islands can expect cloudy skies with a high chance of rain due to the frontal system, according to Villamil.

Pagasa also noted that Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Apayao, and mainland Cagayan can expect scattered rain, lightning, and thunder.

Meanwhile, Villamil reported generally fair, hot, and humid weather with chances of isolated rain, thunder, and lightning for the rest of the country including Metro Manila.

In Visayas and Mindanao, these isolated rains should only last from 30 minutes to two hours, according to the specialist.

No gale warnings were raised over the country’s seaboards, but the weather authority cautioned that waves might intensify should there be any offshore thunderstorm activity.

“Pag-ingat pa rin sa ating mga kababayan nating maglalayag sapagkat kung meron po tayong mga offshore thunderstorm activity— o yung mga pag-ulan sa ating mga dagat baybayin— asahan natin ang bahagyang pagtaas ng mga alon na dulot ng mga malalakas na hangin na dulot ng thunderstorms.”

(Those sailing out should be cautious because if there should be any offshore thunderstorm activity or rains in our seas, we can expect that waves may moderately intensify due to strong winds from thunderstorms.)
