Drunk man drowns in Antipolo resort

Sexagenarian loses life in an Antipolo resort drowning last Sunday, May 14.

LUCENA CITY – A 65-year-old drunk man drowned on Sunday in a swimming pool in Antipolo City, Rizal province.

In a report, the Region 4A police said Salvador Damaguin, 65, who was under the influence of liquor, arrived at 3:25 p.m. at a resort in Barangay Dalig.

Damaguin sat at the stair of the swimming pool under the lifeguard tower. A few minutes later the victim was spotted lying unconscious at the bottom of the pool.

Rescuers gave him emergency first aid and rushed him to the nearest hospital. He died at 7:15 p.m. while undergoing treatment.

The report stated that the victim died “due to acute respiratory failure, pulmonary edema, near drowning.”

The police will still subject his body to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. INQ
