Man drowns in Antipolo resort pool after drinking spree

LUCENA CITY – A weekend outing turned tragic on Sunday, April 23, after a picnicker allegedly drowned in a swimming pool in Antipolo City.

Investigators identified the fatality as Nemesio Ariola, who went for a swim at the pool in a resort in Barangay San Jose on Sunday afternoon with two others after a drinking spree, the Region 4A police said in a report.

Ariola was found unconscious around 6 p.m. in the deepest part of the pool.

Rescuers gave him emergency first aid and rushed him to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

The police will subject his body to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. INQ
