LEGAZPI CITY — The local government in Albay suspended classes in some towns and cities due to a scheduled power interruption on Friday, May 12.
In an advisory on Thursday, Albay Gov. Edcel Greco Lagman said classes at all levels in public and private schools were suspended in Sto. Domingo, Malilipot, Legazpi City, Daraga, Camalig, Manito, and parts of Tabaco City, Jovellar, Guinobatan, and Bacacay to prevent heat-related incidents and other medical conditions.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) earlier announced that they would conduct a preventive maintenance operation from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the three substations in Washington and Bitano in Legazpi City, and Sta. Misericordia in Sto. Domingo.
NGCP would also be testing the high voltage equipment at Daraga Substation in Daraga town.
The Albay Electric Cooperative also scheduled a massive line clearing and correction of the power lines. INQ
