Red Cross duns PhilHealth for arrears

After settling at least P5.5 billion in arrears, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) still has an outstanding obligation of some P380 million to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) for the administration of COVID-19 tests during the pandemic.

PRC Chair Richard Gordon on Wednesday said that the humanitarian organization is also exploring legal actions against the state insurer over the unpaid amount.

In a text message to the Inquirer, PhilHealth executive vice president and chief operating officer Eli Santos said the state insurer has yet to confirm the supposed arrears pending discussions with PRC officials. —KATHLEEN DE VILLA
