990AM: Classes suspended due to ‘Falcon,’ more rains expected

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Education (DepEd) has already suspended classes in on all levels in Metro Manila and in some areas of Luzon and Mindanao due to Tropical Storm ‘Falcon’.

All levels have been suspended at the National Capital Region, Pangasinan, Bataan, Balanga city, Zambales, Subic and Malolos, Calamba, Antipolo and Cotabato City. While only pre-school were suspended in Isabela and Cagayan. Classes in some areas in Cavite have been suspended, six schools in Cotabato Province and 10 schools in Sultan Kudarat.

In college, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) suspended classes in all its 22 campuses, Manila Doctors College (now Tytana College), Arellano University in Pasig (Andres Bonifacio campus), Arellano University in Mandaluyon, UERM in Quezon City, Ateneo De Manila University, St. Louis College in Valenzuela, St. Paul College in Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, Centro Escolar University in Makati and University of the Philippines in Diliman.

Undersecretary Benito T. Ramos, Executive Director of the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said in an interview over 990am’s Tapatan with Jay Sonza and Den Macaranas, Falcon merged forces with a low pressure and expected to bring more rains in the Ilocos region, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley.
