5 foreigners to be deported from PH for violating immigration laws

MANILA, Philippines — Five foreign nationals are set to be deported after their arrests by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) for allegedly violating immigration laws.

In a statement, the BI said it arrested an American, two Indians, a Pakistani, and a Vietnamese in separate operations.

“Foreigners who wantonly violate our immigration laws do not deserve the privilege to stay in our country. They should be deported and blacklisted for being undesirable aliens,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said on Tuesday.

According to the BI, the following foreign nationals were arrested for allegedly overstaying:

According to the BI, Thung has been overstaying as a tourist and working without a permit or visa.

Meanwhile, another Indian national identified as Tejinder Singh, 41, was nabbed by BI operatives in Calbayog City on May 2 for illegally acquiring a residence visa in the country.

The agency said Singh allegedly secured a working visa from immigration through fraud and misinterpretation because the company that employed him was suspected to be fictitious.

“All five aliens are facing deportation charges with the BI,” Tansingco said.

“This is just the start of an intensified campaign by our Bureau to flush out illegal aliens, including those staying in far-flung areas of the country,” he added.
