MANILA, Philippines — Makati City residents, particularly Makati Health Plus or “yellow card” holders will have better access to healthcare services and facilities after the city government on Monday unveiled the Makati Life Medical Center in the city’s Central Business District.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said the primary healthcare facility along Malugay Street in Barangay Bel-Air and near the intersection of Ayala Avenue and Sen. Gil Puyat (formerly Buendia) Avenue is more accessible to residents of the city’s first district, city hall employees, and senior citizens compared to Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) in Barangay Pembo in the scity’s econd district.
“Today marks a great milestone for the people of Makati, especially our senior citizens, as now they have access to quality primary care services 24/7. It took several years to complete, but we delivered on our promise to give Makatizens a bigger and more accessible hospital where they can receive medical attention whenever needed,” Binay said in a statement on Tuesday.
Makati Life Medical Center is a private-public partnership (PPP) between LifeNurture Incorporated (LNI) and the city government of Makati.
Binay explained that City Ordinance No. 2021-021 authorized her to sign a PPP agreement with LifeNurture Inc. for the hospital’s “construction, operation, and management.”
Binay added that OsMak patients may be referred to Makati Life Medical Center for specialized tests and services, and that the city government is working with both hospitals to help them integrate medical records.
“Makati Life has a total of 360 beds and 190 doctor’s clinics. It offers multiple specialty centers with advanced medical technology and modern facilities focusing on prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services,” the Makati local government unit said.
“It also has a Physical Rehabilitation Medical Center that will use robotics in treating joint and soft tissue ailments,” it added.
The hospital also has hybrid operating rooms. Binay said the rest of the hospital’s services will be available in the next few months.
