MANILA, Philippines — The Southern Police District (SPD) rescued 43 Indonesian and Malaysians from illegal detention and arrested seven suspects on Saturday in Parañaque City.

The seven suspects were identified as Ong Kok Siang, 31; Guo Jinxie, 32; Zhangxiao Feng, 34; Micheal Aodi, 28; Chalvin Nashua Abetnego, 24; Joppy, 40; and Loi Shing-Hung aka Jerry Wang and aka Lou Xing Hong, 36.

The 40 Indonesian and three Malaysian victims were allegedly detained by the suspects inside a Philippine offshore gaming operator site in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City.

According to the SPD, the rescue operation was conducted by members of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) of the Parañaque City police following a report by an official from the Protocol and Consular Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

The rescued victims were immediately brought to the SPD-DSOU for proper documentation.

Meanwhile, the suspects are now in the custodial facility while facing charges of serious illegal detention and human trafficking.
