PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III advised Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama to avail of a loan to fund the reconstruction of the burnt unit II of the Carbon Market complex.
But Rama said yesterday that he would again be asking the President for financial help on the reconstruction project.
“Ug pwede dili lang ta mo utang kay daghan pa tag utang. Dili ko mo undang (pangayo ug tabang sa Presidente). Liberal Party man ko, so dili ko mauwaw,” Rama said.
Rama was in Manila on Thursday to meet with Budget Secretary Butch Abad and discuss the need for funding for the Carbon Market unit II reconstruction.
He also visited the Department of Transportation of Telecommunications office hoping to chance on Sec. Manuel Roxas. But Roxas was not at the office then reports reaching city hall said.
In his talk with Abad, Rama said the budget secretaries would help to again bring his concern on the market reconstruction project to Aquino’s attention.
Abad, he said, promised to help.
To ensure that Abad does not forget his promise, Rama said he would also be writing the budget secretary soon to remind him of the city’s need for help on the market reconstruction project.
Rama said helping in the market reconstruction project will give the Cebuanos something to remember of the Aquino administration.
So far, the city government has only allocated P170 million for the project estimated to cost at least P300 million.
