THE winningest school in Nestea Beach Volley history just got another weapon as the Southwestern University (SWU) unveiled and inaugurated their very own beach volleyball court in a ceremony yesterday that was attended by school officials and officers of the Cebu Volleyball Association (Ceva).
The beach volley court, which costs an estimated P300,000, is the first of its kind in the city.
SWU also became just the third school in the country to have its own beach volley court after La Salle-Greenhills and the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City.
The ceremonies were graced by SWU president Perlita Suralta and the chairperson of the Board Maris Holopainen.
Also present were officers of Ceva headed by president Andrew Choachuy.
SWU athletic director Ryan Aznar was ecstatic at seeing a dream of his come true ever since the idea’s inception in 2006.
“The main purpose of having this court is to maximize the training of the players. It’s really an advantage for us since the players don’t have to go far to train,” he said.
