Comelec expects 71 million registered voters for 2025 midterm elections

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting 71 million registered voters for the 2025 midterm elections, poll body chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) expects 71 million registered voters for the 2025 midterm elections, poll body chairman George Erwin Garcia said on Thursday.

As of now, Garcia said Comelec recorded around 68 million voters, but the poll body is expecting an increase of three million

“Ngayon po 68 million, ang aming projection by 2025, about 71 million voters po tayo,” Garcia said in a press briefing at Comelec headquarters in Manila.

(As of now, the registered voters are at 68 million; in our projections in 2025, we would have around 71 million voters.)

Garcia said this expected turnout prompted the Comelec to project the number of voting counting machines to 127,000.

He also said around 72 million test ballots should be printed for the election.
