P374,000 worth of meth seized from Angeles City drug suspects

ANGELES CITY — Police arrested a “high-value individual” who allegedly yielded some P374,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, May 3, in Lourdes Northwest village in this city.

In a statement, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) identified the suspect as Rommel Paras, 62, a resident of nearby City of San Fernando.

City drug enforcement unit operatives, along with Police Station 2, conducted the sting operation against the suspect near the Angeles City Water District building that resulted to his arrest.

Paras allegedly sold a small sachet of shabu to an undercover policeman who used a marked peso bill. The lawmen allegedly confiscated from the suspect 55 grams of suspected shabu.

The PRO3 said 711 persons were arrested in anti-illegal drug operations all over Central Luzon last month. He said the police seized some P10.9 million worth of illegal substances.

PRO3 director Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr said the regional police would remain relentless in its campaign against illegal drugs and “will keep on conducting anti-illegal drug operations to stop its proliferation.” INQ
