Albay town suspends classes due to heavy rains

LEGAZPI CITY — The local government of Daraga in Albay has declared suspension of classes at all levels due to continuous rainfall since Wednesday morning, May 3.

Mayor Carlwin Baldo said in a Facebook post that classes in both public and private schools would be suspended starting 3 p.m. due to the yellow rainfall warning issued by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

At 2 p.m., Pagasa Southern Luzon issued the warning in Albay and Sorsogon which means that heavy rains could cause flooding in low-lying areas and near river channels.
