MANILA, Philippines — The pilot run of the single-ticketing system will begin today, Tuesday, in seven cities in Metro Manila, allowing the standardized payment of traffic fines online without the confiscation of driver’s licenses.

To recall, the plan is to implement the ticketing system first in seven cities, specifically Manila, Quezon City, Parañaque, Caloocan, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, and San Juan, before carrying it out to the rest of Metro Manila under the Metro Manila traffic code, to be be enforced by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) together with the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Metro Manila Council president and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora, for his part, reminded the public that this means traffic enforcers will not be confiscating licenses, and will only issue citation tickets.

“You may pay your fines through digital payment platforms (LGUs will have specific codes for online payments). You may still opt to pay physically in the City Hall of the LGU where you violated,” Zamora told Inquirer.net

He then reminded the public that the fines for 20 common traffic violations have already been standardized in line with the Metro Manila traffic code.

Below is the list of the standardized fines under the traffic code:

Car drivers can get fined up to P5,000, while motorcyclists can be fined up to P10,000, both for violation of children’s safety under the new single traffic ticket system.

“Let us follow all traffic rules and regulations. You will not be fined if you do not violate any traffic laws. Less traffic violations mean less traffic. Let us all be disciplined motorists,” Zamora said.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said that 900 personnel will be deployed in the seven cities, adding that its first assessment will be released on Friday.
