PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – Four persons died while six others were injured when a shuttle van owned by Charing Transport skidded off the road and hit a tree in this city on Sunday morning (April 30).
Police report said the driver of the van Joezer Lontes, 29, lost control of the steering wheel, causing it to hit a tree on the opposite side of the road between kilometers 27 and 28 along South National Highway in Barangay (village) Sta. Lucia at around 7:45 a.m.
The shuttle van which came from Quezon town, south of Palawan, was on its way to this city and upon reaching the descending and curve part of the road, which was slippery at the time of the incident due to sudden downpour, Lontes lost control of the vehicle.
Injured were Lontes and his six passengers identified as Maylene Villarosa, 38, a resident of Barangay Isaub, Aborlan; Elizabeth Blanca, 27, a resident of Barangay Iraan, Rizal; Glynne Delos Santos, 20, and Gay Delos Santos, 25, both residents of Barangay Liwanag, this city; Chita Loresto, 62, a resident of Barangay Ipilan, Narra; and Abegail Caserta, 24, a resident of this City.
Authorities have yet to disclose the names of the four fatalities.
The wounded were taken to Luzviminda Satellite Clinic for treatment while the passengers who died on the spot were brought to a funeral parlor. Geraldforde Ticke, INQUIRER Southern Luzon
