1 killed, 2 hurt in South Cotabato tornado
MANILA, Philippines—One was killed and two were injured after a tornado hit Lake Sebu, South Cotabato Tuesday afternoon, a belated report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.
The fatality was identified as KC Dawang, 12, of Sitio Lehem-ek, Brgy. Poblacion.
Meanwhile, Imelda Swan, also of Sitio Lehem-ek, and Kayla Tampungan, 4, of Sitio Tabudtod, Brgy. Lamdalag, were wounded, the NDRRMC said.
Ten families were affected from Lehem-ek, and five families from Tabudtod, it added.
The families were given emergency assistance by the local disaster risk reduction and management council, the NDRRMC said.
Meanwhile, a tornado also struck a coastal section of the municipality of Parang, Maguindanao, on Thursday afternoon destroying at least 25 houses in the village of Polloc, village secretary Abubakar Abdul said.
