P6.9M worth of marijuana plants, seedlings destroyed in Ilocos Sur town

Authorities say they destroyed marijuana plants in different plantation sites in Ilocos Sur and Benguet.

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Authorities said they destroyed fully grown marijuana plants and seedlings valued at P6.9 million after they were confiscated during a two-day operation on April 22 and 23 in Danac village in Sugpon town, Ilocos Sur.

In a report on Wednesday, the police said that 28,820 fully grown marijuana, at least 10 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves, and some 360 marijuana seedlings were discovered in at least 10 cultivating sites that covered around 4,300 square meters of land during the marijuana eradication operations.

No cultivators were apprehended during the operations, but the police were looking at two persons of interest as possible cultivators at the plantation sites.
