LUCENA CITY — A motorcyclist died while his pillion rider was injured when their vehicle slammed into a commuter bus here late Sunday, April 23, police said.

A report from the Quezon police said security guard Nicanor Corigal, 38, was driving the motorcycle with passenger Mary Jane Lagar, 28, when they collided head-on with the bus driven by Mark Anthony Lamac along the diversion road in Barangay (village) Ibabang Dupay at around 9:30 p.m.

The motorcycle was dragged by the bus a few meters away after the strong impact, the report said.

Both motorcycle riders sustained grave injuries and were rushed by a passing ambulance to Quezon Medical Center in the city proper, but Corigal, who was not wearing a crash helmet, was declared dead on arrival.

The police, citing information from a bus passenger seated in front, said the motorcycle occupied the opposite lane and subsequently collided head-on with the oncoming bus. INQ
