SWS survey says 7% of households have an OFW

MANILA, Philippines — A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released Wednesday found that seven percent of Filipino households have an overseas Filipino worker that helps provide for the family.

According to the poll, 75 percent of the households often receive money from their OFW family members with 17 percent saying they “sometimes” receive money from them, 5 percent saying “seldom,” and 3 percent saying “never.”

The SWS also found that “nearly two out of 10 adult Filipinos aspire to live abroad” with seven percent already looking for work overseas.

Adult Filipino respondents chose the following countries as their top picks to find employment, based on the survey:

The SWS poll conducted from December 10-14, 2022, interviewed 1,200 Filipino adults across the country. It has a margin of error of ± 2.8 percent.
