MANILA, Philippines —  The Court of Appeals (CA) has junked with finality the plea of detained former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Gov. Datu Zaldy Ampatuan to be transferred from New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City to a medical facility.

In a resolution, Associate Justice Angelene Mary Quimpo-Sale denied Ampatuan’s motion asking the appellate court to reconsider its decision to junk his appeal in July 2022.

This stemmed from Ampatuan’s petition for certiorari questioning the July 2020 order of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes, who denied his urgent motion to be taken out of the Bilibid due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
