2 drown in Cavite, Rizal provinces

Girl drowns in Cavite resort

LUCENA CITY — Two persons drowned in separate incidents during the weekend in Cavite and Rizal provinces.

The Region 4A police said Rex Caindy, 25, had a drinking session around 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, with his workmates near a river in Barangay San Francisco in General Trias City, Cavite.

Investigators said Caindy went to the river, “possibly slipped and fell into a deep portion of the water which caused him to drown.”

The search-and-rescue team recovered the body of Caindy floating at around 10 a.m. the next day in another part of the river.

The police are conducting further investigation.

In Antipolo City, Rizal, a family outing turned tragic after a girl drowned  at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday in a resort swimming pool in Barangay San Roque.

The report said the victim, Jamila Bolado Carpio, went to the swimming pool for children.

Moments later, a lifeguard noticed that Carpio did not surface.

Rescuers retrieved the unconscious victim from the pool, gave emergency first aid treatment, and rushed her to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. INQ
