LEGAZPI CITY — Camarines Sur disaster management responders started to decamp more than 12,000 evacuees while classes at all levels resumed on Friday amid improved weather conditions.

Gremil Alexis Naz, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol spokesperson, said in a chat message that the 2,570 families (12,066 individuals) from 12 towns were allowed to return home on Friday morning, days after being hit by flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains dumped by Tropical Depression Amang.

In a memorandum on Thursday afternoon, Governor Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte ordered the resumption of classes at all levels in public and private schools.

He suspended the classes on Wednesday, April 12, due to the threat of flooding and landslides, especially in high-risk areas.

In an advisory on Thursday, Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion also ordered the resumption of classes at all levels and work in government.

Legacion said, however, that administrators of schools still affected by flooding may defer the resumption of classes.

Classes at all levels and work in government offices in Naga City were suspended on Thursday, April 13, after the widespread flooding.

Naz said about 91 villages in Naga City and the towns of Bombon, Magarao, Calabanga, Buhi, Baao, Pili, Bula, Minalabac, Pamplona, Pasacao, Canaman, Nabua and Gainza were flooded from Tuesday until Thursday.

Some roads were also rendered impassable due to landslides and flooding.

The floodwater in most of the affected areas subsided starting Thursday.
