Police seize firearms worth P300T in Danao

Assorted firearms worth at least P300,000 were seized in a police operation in barangay Ylaya, Danao City, northern Cebu, on Wednesday night.

Police said Marcing Batulan, a suspected gun-runner, and his unidentified male companion eluded arrest.

The operation was conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7).

Chief Insp. Ricky Neron said Batulan is a known gunrunner in Cebu province.

Seized during the operation were a KG-9 machine pistol, an Ingram machine pistol, two .45 pistols, four .357 revolvers, which are classified by police as high-powered firearms.

Also seized were three .38 snub-nose revolvers, three .22 Magnum revolvers and assorted magazines.

Police said Batulan was placed under surveillance for four weeks until a transaction was made with the suspect.

Four CIDG-7 operatives who posed as buyers met Batulan past 7 p.m. in Ylaya.

The CIDG-7 operatives asked Batulan to show them several firearms to choose from.

Neron said when police got hold of the firearms, Batulan and his companion were able to detect that it was a buy-bust and ran.

Police tried to chase Batulan but to no avail.
