MANILA, Philippines — St. Scholastica’s College has confirmed that one of its students, who was reported missing on Tuesday, April 11, was already found and is now safe.
St. Scholastica made the statement on Thursday, April 13, as it refuted claims that the 16-year-old student “was in danger while within the vicinity of the school.”
“This was not the case. She left [on] her own accord, and we want to assure everyone that the safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance to us,” it said in a Facebook post.
The student’s mother on Wednesday, April 12, took to Facebook to call for help in bringing her daughter “home safely.”
In an update the next day, she said her daughter had been found but “is not yet home.”
“We ask for your continued prayers and support as we work towards bringing her back safely. We understand that many of you may have questions, but please respect our family’s privacy as we navigate this situation,” she said.
