TACLOBAN CITY — At least 472 passengers were stranded in the two ports of Northern Samar on Tuesday amid the threat of Tropical Depression Amang.
Of the stranded passengers, 356 were in the port of Balwhartico, while the rest were in the port of Dapdap.
The two ports in the town of Allen, Northern Samar, serve passengers bound for Luzon.
Aside from Northern Samar, the Philippine Coast Guard also issued a no-sailing policy in Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran to avoid untoward incidents due to the tropical depression.
All four provinces were placed under Signal No. 1 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.

Mayor Benjamin Ver of Jipapad town in Eastern Samar said they had already prepositioned food packs in case there would be severe flooding due to Amang.
