PUERTO PRINCESA CITY —One person died and another was hurt in a fire Tuesday that razed two houses in Purok (zone) Matahimik, Barangay Sta. Lourdes in this city.
City Fire Department spokesperson Fire Officer 3 Mark Llacuna said in a report that the fire broke out at 1:30 a.m. but was reported to them only at 2:20 a.m.
The fatality was a person with disability identified as Mary Grace Fuentes, 30. Llacuna said Fuentes was not able to get out of the burning house.
He said Fuentes’ mother Marcela, 75, suffered first degree burns in both shoulders and right arm.
Llacuna said the fire lasted for two hours before firefighters declared it fire out at 3:20 a.m.
He added they were still conducting follow-up investigations to determine the cause of fire and cost of damage.
