Abra farmers receive P7.48 million worth of farm equipment

MANILA, Philippines— Farmers in Abra received farm equipment worth P7.48 million, the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) said in a statement on Monday.

The equipment included a hauling truck, two tractors, six mechanical rice threshers, various water pumps and hose rolls, electric power sprayers, four brass cutters, and three hand tractors.

DAR said that the project was aimed at improving agricultural productivity in the region.

“It is imperative for you to maximize the use of this equipment in the landholdings awarded to you to fulfill the vision of the government to improve the quality of your lives,” Mercedes Boronga, provincial agrarian reform program officer, told the farmers.

Abra farmers received the equipment through four agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations — namely, Villa Banat Agriculture Cooperative, Abualan Farmers & ARB Agriculture Cooperative, Upper Luba FIA, and Raniag Pakiling Integrated Development Association Inc, DAR added.

The project was undertaken through the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Program of the DAR. The program seeks to help agrarian reform communities to adapt towards climate change resiliency.
