21-year-old woman drowns in Albay town river

A 21-year-old woman drowned while swimming in a river in Sto. Domingo town in Albay on Easter Sunday, April 9.

LEGAZPI CITY — A 21-year-old woman drowned while swimming in a river in Sto. Domingo town in Albay on Easter Sunday, April 9.

Mayor Joseling Aguas Jr. said in a private chat message Sunday that the victim was found in Barangay (village) Lidong at around 8:20 a.m.

Aguas said the area was a quarry site connected to the sea.

“It’s a quarry site, supposedly no people should swim there,” Aguas said.

Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, spokesperson of Bicol police, said in a report that the victim, who was described as having a “mental disorder,” was brought by the responders to a hospital in this city but was declared dead.
