Woman hurt in shooting incident in Ilocos Norte town

Major "Balikatan" drills that were previously set in Ilocos Norte next month have been moved to Zambales province

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte — A woman was wounded after she dodged bullets in a shooting incident on Black Saturday, April 8, in San Nicolas town in Ilocos Norte province.

The police said the victim, a 28-year-old operations manager at a local sand dunes activities facility, was driving her vehicle when two suspects were tailing her in their own “metallic gray” Innova car.

Investigators said the suspects shot at the left side of the woman’s car while traversing at around 7 a.m. the San Nicolas-Paoay road in Barangay 18. Although she dodged the bullets, she was injured by shards of broken glass from the window of her vehicle.

She was able to speed up her vehicle and reach a residential area where the suspects retreated and stopped chasing her, the police said.

The victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment while investigation continues.

The police immediately launched a dragnet operation to arrest the suspects.
