Cop shot dead in Bohol town

TAGBILARAN CITY – A retired police officer who also served as village councilor was shot dead Monday by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Ubay town in Bohol province.

The Ubay police identified the victim as Reynaldo “Ete” Garcia Hoylar, 54, a retired policeman and a village councilor of Barangay Tuboran in Bien Unido.

Hoylar, who was with his 17-year-old nephew, came from a derby when he was tailed by two motorcycle-riding gunmen. When he reached Barangay Calanggaman in Ubay, the assailants repeatedly shot Hoylar, who was driving his car.

FEATURED STORIES

Hoylar suffered several gunshot wounds in his body. He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His nephew suffered some injuries.

The Ubay police have yet to establish the motive of the killing.
