LGU fires staff caught watching TV during office hours

In Bacolod, a city hall staff who was caught watching TV during office hours was fired

BACOLOD CITY — The contract of a job order worker caught watching television during office hours at the Bacolod City Government Center has not been renewed.

During office hours, the worker was one of about five city employees caught watching a TV show at the Cash Division of the City Treasurer’s Office.

City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III on Monday, April 3, said the regular employees may face administrative action, depending on the recommendation of the City Legal Office.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez had ordered removing all television sets from city government offices to prevent employees from being distracted from their work.
