MANILA, Philippines — Following viral posts on social media by air travelers claiming they were unjustly off-loaded from international flights, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) has initiated a review of policies behind existing departure formalities and vowed to look into the manner these were being enforced, Dana Sandoval, spokesperson for the BI, said on Monday.

Sandoval said a supervisors training, which focused on case handling and proper communication to passengers was held on Friday.

“[This is] for them to be able to explain properly, because we see this as a very important aspect in handling concerns and issues at the airport. They should be able to communicate properly so that the passenger will know what happened, what are the next steps to do,” Sandoval said.
