Sisters arrested for alleged shoplifting in mall

MANILA, Philippines — Two sisters were arrested after allegedly shoplifting at a mall department store in Pasay City, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Monday.

In a statement, the SPD said a security guard of the SM Mall of Asia saw suspects Celine Galutera, 24, and Kim Galutera, 19, putting store products in their bag before leaving the department store without paying for the items.

The officer had then asked for the receipt for the items, but the sisters could not provide their proof of purchase, police added.

Among the items recovered from the Galutera sisters were five sunglasses, a tote bag, and makeup worth P5,120.

The suspects were brought to the mall’s customer relation office for processing and inventory before they were turned over to the Pasay police. — MJ Soriano, trainee
