DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — A 25-year-old rice trader in Magsaysay town, Davao del Sur was robbed by still unidentified suspects on Friday as she was walking along a riverbank at around 11 a.m. on Friday after a collection round.
Captain Arturo Papas, Jr., acting Magsaysay police chief, said the incident happened in Sitio Sagrada of Barangay Barayong.
The trader, whom he identified only as Jennifer, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, was intercepted by three men near a river and grabbed her backpack that contained some P50,000 in cash collection for the day.
Not done with the money, the robbers forced the victim to take off her clothes. Before fleeing across the river, one of the suspects opened a lighter and inflicted burns on her left breast and right thigh.
Papas said that after seeing the men had left, Jennifer ran towards the nearest house in the village and sought help.
