Armed motorcycle riders collared in Rizal province

'High-value' drug pusher busted in Rizal

LUCENA CITY — Two motorcycle riders were caught Friday with illegal firearms in Taytay town in Rizal province, a police report said Saturday, April 1.

The Police Region 4A reported that local cops in a checkpoint along P. Ocampo street in Barangay San Isidro flagged down around 11:30 p.m. a motorcycle with three riders who did not stop.

The police chased and arrested Sonny Dante and Brando Cruz. The motorcycle driver, Rommel Beriña, escaped with the vehicle.

The police found Dante carrying a caliber .45 pistol loaded with six bullets, while Cruz yielded a .99 pistol with five bullets.

They were arrested after failing to present government documents for the firearms.

The suspects were detained while criminal charges, including illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, were being prepared.

The police are conducting further investigation to determine the background\ of the armed suspects.
