Motorcyclist cop dies after hitting tree in Cavite

The Philippine National Police in Cavite province has advised motorists to check on and use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion in the towns of Indang, Amadeo, Tanza and Trece Martires City due to the special congressional election on Saturday, Feb. 25.

LUCENA CITY — A policeman died on Friday, March 31, in a road mishap while riding his motorcycle in Alfonso town in Cavite province.

Police Corporal Randy Ramos, assigned to the Presidential Security Group, accidentally crashed into a tree on the roadside after losing control of his vehicle while traveling along Alilio Drive in Barangay Upli at around 11:50 p.m., the Region 4A police said in a report Saturday, April 1.

The rider suffered head injuries and died while being taken by rescuers to Tagaytay Medical Center in neighboring Tagaytay City.

The report did not state whether or not Ramos was wearing a crash helmet, which is required by the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
