Motorcyclist dead in Cavite highway crash

LUCENA CITY — A 46-year-old man died Wednesday after his motorcycle hit a dump truck along Aguinaldo Highway in Silang, Cavite.
Police Region 4A said in a report that Fidel Benosa, 46, was driving his motorcycle when he accidentally bumped the rear of the truck driven by Jerel De Leon in Barangay (village) Biluso around 2:10 a.m.
The report noted that the truck was not moving while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
The victim suffered grave injuries and died while being taken to the nearest hospital, according to police.
The report did not say whether the victim wore a crash helmet for protection as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
The police are conducting an investigation while De Leon remains in their custody.
