5 busted for illegal drugs, gambling in Makati City

 MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested five individuals for illegal drugs and gambling in Makati City on Wednesday.

The Southern Police District (SPD) said it received a tip from an unidentified citizen about a group of individuals involved in illegal gambling activities. 

 The five suspects were eventually arrested at Laperal Compound, Bernardino Street, Barangay Guadalupe Viejo, early Wednesday morning.

The SPD identified the arrested suspects as Ronnie Saing, 33; Jayson Aggabao, 18; Edgardo Alcaraz, 27; Ronaldo Permejo, 53 and and Sheryl Jamirez, 34. 

Recovered from the suspects were P1,000 cash used in the gambling session and 12 sachets or 70.51 grams of crystal meth or “shabu” with an estimated value of P479,000. 

The suspects were detained and will be facing formal complaints for violating Presidential Decree 1602 (for illegal gambling) and Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. 

The recovered pieces of drug evidence will be turned over to SPD’s forensic unit for examination.
