Cops nab two men in Caloocan City, P240,000 worth of marijuana seized
MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested on Wednesday two “high-value” individuals and seized P240,000 worth of suspected marijuana in Caloocan City.
The Northern Police District (NPD) said that its police personnel received a phone call from a concerned citizen reporting the ongoing illegal drug trade activities of two men.
Upon receiving the call, the city’s Police Sub-Station 5 dispatched cops to verify the caller’s claim. The suspects tried to escape when authorities approached them, which resulted in their arrest early morning Wednesday along Intan Street, Barangay 153.
NPD identified suspects Frederick De Guzman, 45, and John Kevin Periano, 28 — both residents of Caloocan City.
The police confiscated a paper bag containing marijuana in two pieces of plastic zip locks, weighing more or less two kilograms, worth P240,000.
Seized pieces of evidence were brought to the NPD office for documentation, while the arrested suspects were brought to Caloocan City Medical Center for medical examination.
The NPD said the sub-station already began its initial investigation or filing of appropriate charges against the suspects.
