Pagasa: No tropical cyclone expected in PH until end of March
MANILA, Philippines — No tropical cyclones are expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility until the end of March, but easterlies are expected to bring localized thunderstorms in some parts of the country, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.
“Wala na ho tayong inaasahang bagyo at least ngayong buwan ng Marso dahil March 29 na ngayon,” according to Obet Badrina, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
(We don’t expect any tropical cyclones at least for the month of March because it is already March 29.)
So far, no tropical cyclones have formed or entered the Philippine area of responsibility this March.
Badrina, however, said parts of Visayas and Mindanao are expecting partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
“Makikita nga natin ‘yung easterlies o yung mainit na hangin na nagmumula sa karagatang pasipiko ang siyang nakakaapekto partikular sa silangang Visayas at Mindanao,” he said.
(As we can see, the easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean affect eastern Visayas and Mindanao.)
“Maaaring itong magdala ng mga localized thunderstorms, partikular na nga sa Kabisayaan at sa Mindanao,” he added.
(This can cause localized thunderstorms in Visayas and Mindanao.)
