Cops nab three men in Las Piñas City for illegal possession of firearm, ‘shabu’

Police arrest three men in Las Piñas City for yielding an undocumented firearm and ammunition, and  "shabu."

MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested three men in Las Piñas City for yielding an undocumented firearm and ammunition, and  “shabu” (crystal meth) during a buy-bust operation.

In a report of the Southern Police District (SPD), a buy-bust operation was conducted early morning Tuesday in Las Piñas City that resulted in the arrest of the suspects along Wonderland Site in Barangay Talon Singko.

The police identified the suspects as Ranny Singcoy, 36, a construction worker; Jayson Dela Cruz, 31, a construction worker; and Mauricio Mangubat, 42, a painter.

According to the SPD, operatives of the city police station’s Drug Enforcement Unit seized five sachets or 4.6 grams of shabu worth P32,640 and a .38 revolver loaded with two pieces of ammunition, a wallet, and buy-bust money from the suspects.

All confiscated pieces of evidence were turned over to the SPD Forensic Unit while the suspects will face complaints for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, authorities said.
