MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese national has been arrested for attempting to bribe police officers with P100,000 to release his detained friend.
In a police report on Monday, the Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as Bin Li, a 40-year-old sales manager.
The SPD noted that Bin was apprehended at 40th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City in Fort Santiago, Taguig City on Sunday, 11:40 p.m.
Based on the report, the suspect headed to Fort Bonifacio Police Substation and asked for his friend, Deng Jiliang, 33, who was jailed there for violation of Sections 11 and 12 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Bin then offered the arresting officers P100,000 in exchange for his friend’s release from detention.
The bribe money and an alien employment permit identification card were seized from the suspect.
Bin will face a complaint for violation of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices law.
