4.4 magnitude quake jolts Camarines Norte island
CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines — A magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck Tinaga Island in the town of Vinzons in Camarines Norte on Thursday, March 24, at 11:13 p.m.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake’s epicenter was located 16 kilometers southeast of Tinaga Island (Vinzons) in Camarines Norte. It had a depth of one kilometer and was of tectonic origin.
The earthquake was felt at Intensity II in Daet, Camarines Norte. No damages or injuries have been reported so far.
The Philippines is situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire, where frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur.
