A man wanted in Cebu City for rape charges six years ago was arrested in Clarin town, Bohol province, where he worked in a carenderia.
Jerome Japson, 26, of barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City, was tracked down by police through his Facebook account.
He was earlier accused of raping the 10-year-old daughter of the family’s boarder in barangay Hippodromo, Cebu City. The victim is now 17 years old.
Japson told Cebu Daily News that since he’s already in custody, he’s willing to marry the girl if she and her family would accept him.
The man was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas on Monday afternoon.
Insp. Delfin Bontuyan, one of the arresting officers, said police found Japson on Facebook and secured his photo and address by contacting one of his female friends in Clarin who was listed in the account.
The policeman pretended that he needed to meet Japson because the young man had impregnated his daughter.
The female contact led police to the eatery where Japson worked as a dishwasher. He had a standing arrest warrant issued by Cebu Regional Trial Court Judge Manuel Patalinghug. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
